1. Create your own carved design or research a design online.

Carved design suggestions: Curvilinear forms, no thin lines. Images should be "colored-in" black and white shapes.

 

 

2. Use kneedle tool to draw the design.  With small fine carving looped tool, delicately carve out black shapes/space.  Use rubber tip tool to smooth removed area.

3. Practice on sample tile.

4. Create cylinder form, use kneedle tool to draw the design. When clay is semi-leather hard, use fine kneedle tool to carve it out. Refer to your sample drawing design.
