Wheel throwing

Wheel throwing materials: bat, sponge,water, kneedle tool, rib, wooden knife tool, water bucket, wire tool

Wheel throwing steps:    Please refer to the wheel throwing video page on my blog

1. Prepare 2 balls of clay each 2 lbs. 

2. Form into ball or teardrop shape

3. Throw ball onto center of wheel and hit twice to secure.  Do not make it flat. Should be in a dome shape

4.  Wheel at full speed while pressing left hand in front side of clay and right hand on top

5. Center clay into dome or short cylinder

6. Open with one, two or three fingers of thumb

7. Establish bottom-stop wheel and check thickness with kneedle tool

8. Collor donut

9. 1-3 pulls

10. Smooth outside with rib

11. Trim excess off bottom with wooden knife

12. Use wire cuts and spray water so form will slide off bat

13. Use palms to safely transport on tray and for the clay to become leather hard for trimming bottom
